PII Protect Security Awareness Training Program - Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

To help with your PII Protect training journey, here are the answers to a few of the most frequently asked questions when using the Y's PII Protect security awareness training program.

Why Should I Take a Cybersecurity Course?

We can’t go a week without hearing about the next big data breach. It seems almost normal to be at the will of cybercriminals. Lose everything or pay up.

Unfortunately, most data breaches are caused by people just like us. One minute it’s a typical busy day at work, next you’ve accidentally clicked on the wrong link, asked to wire money to the wrong account, purchased or sent something you shouldn't have, or allowed access to the network to an outsider.

But don’t worry. Most of this could be prevented by education and routine testing. Technology alone isn’t enough anymore.

What does this course consist of?

We know our work lives are busy, so we wanted to provide a cybersecurity program that fits your schedule. Easy-to-watch one- to two-minute videos and four-question quizzes mean you can relax for five minutes and finally eat that snack you’ve been thinking about all day. Not to mention, it contains an organization leaderboard, so we can bring the association competition to a whole new level.

This free training will keep you safe not only online at work but also in your personal life.

But most of all, we want to make sure you’re protected. With:

  • Quick and easy weekly security tips to keep you up to date
  • Dark Web Monitoring to make sure you and your family are safe
  • Educational tidbits that will protect you for the long haul.

Micro-Training

You will be sent an email each week to watch a 1-2-minute micro-training video on the latest cybersecurity threats. At the end, complete the 4-question quiz to increase your Employee Secure Score!

Leaderboard

Remember to pick a good screen name! You’ll be able to compete head-to-head with your coworkers and see who can reach the top of the leaderboard. Have fun and enjoy the healthy competition!

Dark Web Scans

The more you know, the better you can protect yourself and your loved ones. This new program allows you to scan your personal, friends, or family member's email addresses as much as you’d like!

I just set up my PII Protect account. Now what?

First, complete the Required Security Training. This course covers the basics of keeping your organization — and yourself — secure while working online, and covers topics such as safe web browsing, safe email practices, and recognizing phishing and social engineering. This should take approximately 45 minutes to complete. With case-study-based videos provide an example of how incidents can happen to anyone. During this course, you can stop and start at any time. To get credit for this course, you must complete a 20-question quiz that will impact your Employee Secure Score, so you’ll want to pay attention!

Second, take the Security Quiz to show your security knowledge. You must score 80% or better to pass. You do not need to print your Training Certificate unless you would like to.

Completing the Required Security Training and passing the Security Quiz will be required soon, and notifications will sent out.

If you do not pass the Security Quiz, you may retake the training and quiz as often as needed.

I completed the required training and quiz. Now what happens?

First, congratulations on passing the required training! You have an important role in protecting our organization from online threats. Here’s what happens next:

Micro Training

The Y PII-Protect (no-reply@securityreminders.com) will email you a link to our weekly micro-training videos each week. Following each video, you will see a short quiz based on the content. The more quizzes you take, the higher your Employee Security Score (ESS), so take the 5-minute break and educate yourself on what to look out for this week!

Simulated Phishing Attack

We will send you simulated phishing emails to check your inbox security awareness. Use your training to spot these emails — and possibly a real phishing email — in your inbox. If you find what looks like a phishing email, follow your organization’s procedures to either report it to the IT team or delete it.

What is the Employee Security Score (ESS)?

The Employee Security Score (ESS) is like a “credit score” for your security awareness. Your score is based on a combination of factors, including your security training score, micro quiz scores, and phishing attack fail rate. Get your score in the green!

Do I need to take all of the Micro Training modules?

No, you do not need to take all of the Micro Training modules. You are encouraged to keep up with the Micro Training modules sent in the Weekly Security Tip emails as described above. Taking more Micro Training modules and Micro Quizzes will improve your Employee Security Score.

Why do I keep receiving a welcome email every week? Do I need to sign up?

IT reviews who has signed in and who has not every week. While this is not a requirement yet, if time allows, it is a free benefit to you at work and at home. Knowing what to look for online is crucial to your security and any organization or company you work for.
